What is sodium chlorite powder?

The sodium chlorite is a chemical compound NaClO2, widely used and safe for the disinfection and purification of water for human or animal consumption.

Sodium chlorite powder properties

It is the safer chemical for the treatment of drinking water, since, unlike other chemicals, sodium chlorite is not suitable for does not generate trihalomethanes (toxic complexes) in contact with organic matter.

Prolonged disinfection if used without activator.

Lowest sodium chlorite on the market in nitrates, chlorates and other residues.

SODIUM CHLORITE powder: USES AND APPLICATIONS

At water purification, sodium chlorite can be used alone to obtain a prolonged action in water with PH less than 5, or mixed with the activator when immediate purification is required, in waters of any pH range.

How does sodium chlorite powder work?

Although the sodium chlorite is a very effective disinfectant, it is the raw material for obtaining chlorine dioxide, which is really the chemical that has the maximum purifying properties.

In order to transform into chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorite needs to come into contact with acidity. So we can activate sodium chlorite with Dioxvitae activator (hydrochloric acid) to obtain an immediate effect or not to activate it, giving a prolonged effect, activating slowly due to the acidity produced by pathogens and toxins.

If activated, the following is used one drop of sodium chlorite for every drop of activator, by first activating it in a glass container, waiting 30 seconds and pouring the mixture into the water to be treated.

In slightly polluted waters, which for example do not show color or odor, 1 drop of sodium chlorite should be applied for every 5 liters of water to be treated. The maximum dose depends on the degree of contamination, with 3 drops per liter being a very high dose.

Contraindications

Sodium chlorite should only be used safely.

Read carefully the product label y your safety data sheet before use.
